House progress

It's really looking like a house from the outside now! They dry walled last week and will be finishing up priming the walls this week. We have a closing date of November 7th! I guess we might want to start packing soon!!

Take me out to the ball game

We go to the YMCA (gym) every day and are extremely lucky to have a double A baseball team here! The Lake Erie Crusher stadium is about 100 yards from the YMCA and totally kid friendly. This morning they had an 11:05 game (and awesome weather) so I decided to take the boys to a game. They do have regular stadium seating but also $6 "lawn seats" on a big hill in the outfield. This is perfect for kids who have a hard time sitting in a seat, aisle etc. (also great practice for a Cleveland Indians game)! We had a blast!!

Ground broke on our house on July 12th. Here is the progress this month:

July 12-- dug our basement

July 16--poured the footer

July 17---set basement walls

July 18--took off wall forms

July 19--added plumbing

July 23--waterproofed basement

July 25-- backfilled the basement walls

More back filling

July 30--prepping the gravel for concrete

July 31--I beams placed and concrete poured in
Basement and garage!

You see all the wood starting to pile up in front of our house? As far as I know, the next step is FRAMING!!!!! Then there will be an actual physical skeleton of a house I can see!!!!!
Yippee!

Bennett's hair was out of control. There was a small clump of it that was 3 inches longer than the rest and I could literally tuck behind his ear. I was asked how old my "daughter" was at least twice a week. I decided to just give him a trim...

He still has plenty to spare!

I'm baaaaack!

I know it's been a while. I've been going back and forth on whether I wanted to blog again--honestly, I just couldn't find the time with two kids. When I do have a quiet moment at night and finally have the remote back to myself (and off Disney Jr) I just want to catch up on our dvr. But I also feel like this is a good way to "scrapbook" my life in a way. So I will be trying to blog more!

Ok to catch you upon what has been up with us!

We are in the process of building this home! I'm certain there will be weekly updates on this. We are hoping to be in there in mid-October! Right in time to go trick or treating in their new neighborhood!!!!

Dominic and Bennett (6 months) are keeping me on my toes! These boys love each other so much I want to burst watching them. Bennett's face lights up when he sees his big brother and Dominic showers him with kisses and tickles!

Lou and I are doing great, this Saturday we will celebrate 5 wonderful years of marriage!!

That's all for now, the "Bachelorette" finale, "Big Brother", "RHNJ" and "True Blood" are waiting for me! :) <--- um told you dvr takes up my evening lol!

Fighting for my Life

When I was first diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis I remember my new neurologist opening the conversation with "You aren't going to die." Which for the most part is true. Recently Davy Jones of the Monkees passed away and asked for all donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in remberence of his neice who "died of Multiple Sclerosis".  I have come across so many people who have told me stories of relatives who have died of MS. Great strides have been made in research and treatment to those diagnosed with MS and many can live their lives with MS "normality".

When you are diagnosed with a disease like Multiple Sclerosis you start to view your entire life differently and think differently, at least I did. The moment I heard that there is a chance I could end up in a wheelchair or suffer physically I decided to  appreciate the simplicity of being physically active now. When you hear the words "You might not be able to walk".....YOU WALK! You walk, run, jump, play etc etc etc. When you hear that your sight could be impaired or you could go blind....YOU SEE! I stop myself often during each day and soak up what I see, and thank God that I am able to see with minimal optic damage. My memory has gotten worse and at times I get confused but I make sure to aide myself with a day planner, my iPhone, and constant reminders.  I have to inject myself every single day with a medication to help slow/stop symptoms. I don't dwell over the large welts left on my legs, arms, stomach and hips--I can't think that way. That is my medication, it's going to keep me safe. My point is that where as I am not dying or show any physical symptoms of this disease--I am doing everything to fight for a "normal" life. It is a battle. It would be easy to just throw a pity party and give up but that's not the option I was given..no one told me I was going to have a normal life again. Most people's normal does not include needles, pills, MRIs, memory exams, evoked potential eye exams and the list goes on. But mine does. This is my normal...this is my life and I am honestly one of the lucky ones. At the Mellen Center (Cleveland Clinic MS Center) I see far worse and many times I have had to choke back tears in the waiting room. Closer to home I can look at my mother and see that she has trouble walking and that pushes me even harder.

If by some chance I start to get worse then I want to know that I sure as heck didn't go down without a fight.

This year we are participating the Cleveland MS Walk. Please consider donating to our team--the money raised helps those living with Multiple Sclerosis and aides the NMSS.

Jealous much?

This is what happened yesterday when I asked Dominic to go "rest" and watch tv in his bedroom. Please take special notice of the fact my three year old flipped a mattress and somehow got the curtains to come down?! I should also note that this happened in the span of 10 minutes!

Oh my lil Hulk!

Things that make me smile

Keurig- We got this as a gift for Christmas and Lou and I use it probably 5-6 times a day between us. I love the Cafe Mocha and Buttered Toffee flavored coffees. Lou got me a milk frother for Christmas as well so I can make my very own lattes. This has made my break up from Starbucks a little less painful. Lou makes Hot Apple Ciders every night (I still think it would be better with a little rum in it! haha) and is looking forward to some caffeine assistance this year for tax season. We didn't forget Dominic! He gets his share of hot chocolates as well. Just this week we came across the website www.coffeeforless.com which has a HUGE variety of K-cups cheaper than you find in stores, larger quantities with free shipping!!

Maybelline Baby Lips- I saw an advertisement for these lip glosses in a magazine about a month ago and have since searched stores for them. Every time I looked, they were completely sold out except for the bright red color. Last Friday, I stumbled upon a single peppermint/clear color at Target and snatched it up! I am in love!!! I have been a LipSmackers gal for over 20 years (wow I sound old!) now and these lip glosses are smooth and actually work! I don't have time to reapply lip balm over and over throughout the day so this is right up my alley! (No, sadly I am not paid for endorse Maybelline cosmetics--but if someone out there wants to pay me to play with makeup....)
My boys- Of course these little guys are the number one reason I smile each day! I feel so blessed that I could fill this blog up with reasons that I'm smiling, I just wanted to share a couple while I had a few minutes to blog! :)
                                                         What makes YOU smile!?
