Meeting more family!

Today Uncle Pete & Aunt April stopped by. They brought DT some Browns gear to wear, which is the perfect gift for Uncle Pete to give him! He slept the entire time, and really seemed to enjoy being rocked by his Aunt April!

Bye Bye Bellybutton!

Today while changing Dominic's diaper I went to wipe his bellybutton stump with alcohol as I do 3 times a day and lo and behold---there was no stump to be found!! He finally lost his bellybutton! Luckilly I found it before the dogs did!

Dominic also got to meet his Uncle Brett, who is also his Godfather today!! He looked so little in Brett's arms but was a good boy and slept the whole time! Brett's in med school so he tested all the infant reflexes he learned about in class.

Weight check up..

This morning Dominic took his 2nd trip out of the house. This time he was all cuddled up in his JJ Cole Bundle Me, which is like a big sleeping bag. He fell right asleep and was sleeping all the way up to the point of having to be undressed to be weighed. He weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces last Monday and the Dr wanted to make sure he was gaining about a 1/2 ounce or so a day since then. Louie & I made bets on how much we thought he weighed now..

Louie-7 pounds 12 oz
Brooke-7 pounds 10 oz

and the answer is.....8 pounds 1 ounce!!! Our little guy almost gained a whole POUND last week! They want babies to be back at their birth weight (7 pounds 12 oz) by the time they are 2 weeks old...Looks like we already have an overachiever!! :o) At least we know he's eating well!

After the appointment we stopped at Target to pick up some diapers & a few other things. After spending almost every night at Target walking around in the days before DT was born--I was super excited to be back there with him!

Also--TODAY THE CHRISTMAS MUSIC STARTED ON THE RADIO!! This station plays it nonstop until January....I LOVE it!!

Now I just have to find the Christmas music station on Sirius.

Poop AND pee on Michigan...

Dominic slept through his first Ohio State-Michigan game. He woke up at halftime and was back asleep by the beginning of the 3rd quarter. After the game, while getting his diaper changed (and before we were going to take some pictures of him all dressed up) he peed all over himself and the onesie. We were so proud. I think I jinxed myself when I said that I was shocked he hadn't peed on himself or us yet earlier this week..it's almost a daily occurance now, in fact he got himself in the face this morning!!! Looks like Mommy & Daddy need to be quicker with the diaper from now on!!

GO BUCKS!!!

One week old!

Today Dominic is officially ONE whole week old! I think he has already changed so much in 7 days--I know that time is going to fly by. We're both trying to soak in all these "baby" moments we can because before we know it--he'll be a big boy! Week one has gone well..the lack of sleep isn't that bad and we have a pretty good system going so that Brooke can shower, get ready for the day and eat breakfast every morning. We really are a good team and I think it's making things very easy around here. Lou went back to work today and it's been weird but definitely not lonely with my cute little companion. The day is flying by which is nice. Today Dominic tried some "tummy time" on his playmat. He wasn't very happy on his belly but he really seemed to like looking at himself in the mirrors.

We are going on Tuesday to have his pictures taken--hopefully Dominic is in a good mood! Until then we will always have the camera ready over here! :o)

Things we didn't know last week....

We're sitting here with our son sleeping on Lou's lap and discussing how different things are now. We decided to collaborate & do a list of "things we didn't know last week"..

*That we would almost high five when Dominic has a poop
*Hiccups are funny in the womb and very sad outside <--Lou hates when DT has hiccups
*We can survive on very very little sleep for many many days
*That changing a diaper IS a two person job
*That a dog can have "middle child syndrome" and act out
*You don't have to be in a bed to sleep--if you are that sleep deprived you can sleep sitting in a chair, standing up, or just lay down on the floor next to the crib
*And we both agree that we didn't know that we could love someone so so much after just meeting them <3

Dom's first trip

We took Dominic out of the house for the first time today! Brooke was about to throw up with anxiety but Dominic did great. We traveled about 20 minutes to Dr. Flask's office. Dominic's appt went great! He has gained one ounce since being home (he lost 9 oz in the hospital-it's typical) and took a nice, loud poop during the exam..which was perfect timing because the nurse had just given us a "Poop Color" card to see what's normal. <---it was! We have another appt next Monday to check Dominic's weight. :o)

Welcome to the world Dominic!!

Dominic Thomas Grasso was born Thursday, November 13th at 5:07 pm. He was delivered via C-section. Brooke was started on pitocin at 5:30 am where she was 1.5 cm dialated. At 10 am, the doctor broke her water hoping to further dialation. She reached 3cm at 11 am and then was given an epidural. From 11-4, the contractions became increasingly strong & frequent and we were all hoping for a big change in dialation. Dominic's heartrate wasn't reacting well during the contractions and when checked again at 4:30-Brooke was STILL at 3 cm dialated. Our Dr believed that the cord was wrapped around Dominic's neck restricting him from moving down and also affecting his heart rate. We realized that things weren't going well and it wasn't helping Dominic to be in distress during the contractions. Within minutes Brooke & Lou were whisked away to the surgery room. 10 minutes later we had our son!

7 pounds 12 ounces, 19 inches long (they think longer but he wouldn't stretch his legs out). We came home today and are slowly adjusting to this new world. We will continue to update everyone--but with an EXTREME lack of sleep in the last 3 days, we are pretty much running on fumes!

Thank you for all the prayers, thoughts, and well wishes!!

T minus.....yikes, here we go!

We got admitted to the hospital at 5 pm tonight and are all checked in our room. Brooke has been started on an IV and as soon as a doctor comes in will be given Cervadil. Unfortunetely Brooke didn't eat dinner and now has to be on an ice chips only diet til delivery--and she's STARVING! lol. Pitocin will hopefully be given in the early morning and we can finally meet Dominic!! He's having a great time kicking & moving on his last night in utero. We just plan on relaxing and watching tv tonight--hopefully getting some sleep! 5 am will come early!

Thanks for all the well wishes!!

Good things come to those who wait...

We went in to the doctor today and as soon as she came in to see us we knew it was bad news. 19 of the 20 labor & delivery suites are in use now so we had to be bumped. Brooke will go in Wednesday evening at 5 to start cervadil, at 5 am the following morning the induction will start. We're bummed that we are finding out hours before we were supossed to go into the hospital but everything will work out the way it's meant to.

And the grand total is.....

617.55!!! That's the number of miles Brooke walked while pregnant. That means everyday through morning sickness, sinus infections, fatigue, joint pain etc she was at the gym walking at least 2.5 miles a day! :o) She'll miss her first day tomorrow unless she does multiple laps around the hospital hallways!

Not much of an Update..

We just came from the doctor...no change from last week. Same weight gain, blood pressure, dialation, effacement etc. The doctor said it looks like Brooke will be admitted into the hospital on Monday night & started on cervadil, with pitocin following the next morning. We really didn't want to go into the hospital any earlier because we hate the idea of leaving our poor dogs in the cage for a long time. Luckilly Becky is close, Brett will be home from Med school and Lou can come home if need be to let them out, feed them etc. Also...who wants to be in the hospital a long time?!

We have another appointment on Monday where we will know for sure! Have a great weekend everyone!

We voted!

If we can eat for two, why can't we vote for two!?
